radiology
In our radiology department, we take care of your diagnostic and therapeutic needs with state-of-the-art technology. Through close and interdisciplinary cooperation with the various departments of our company, we can offer targeted and holistic care – from X-rays to complex imaging diagnostics. In this way, we are able to quickly and carefully examine possible diseases, identify causes of complaints and comprehensively assess disease progression.
The open MRI at the district clinic serves our goal, you as our clinic patients or ambulance patients to be able to examine comfortably and without fear: The open design allows an examination in the preferred and pleasant position for you. You can bring a companion and no longer have to be afraid of a narrow and closed tube.
Sincerely,
Your radiology team

Services in the overview
Our X-rays use state-of-the-art technology. This allows us to guarantee the lowest radiation dose with the highest resolution and image quality at the same time. The digital X-ray enables us, among other things, to diagnose:
- Posture anomalies
- tumors
- fractures
- inflammation
- Rheumatic changes
- Scoliosis
- Wear changes
CT is a modern radiological cross-sectional imaging technique that allows the body to be examined in high resolution ‘in incisions’. The tube moves circularly around the body, creating a three-dimensional image at the end. This allows us to identify the following complaints in particular:
- Internal injuries
- bleeding
- Bone fractures
- strokes
- Accurate size and location of tumors and metastases
MRI (also known as ‘core spin’) is a state-of-the-art radiological cross-sectional imaging technique that creates a high-resolution cross-sectional image of the body in specific regions. The examination is radiation-free and harmless. The images for diagnosis are generated with a very strong magnetic field. The MRI is used to display tissue contrasts, such as muscles, tendons, vessels and all body soft parts, but also diseases of bones or joints can make the device visible.
This not only benefits anxiety patients, patients with reduced mobility, people with dementia or children, because: the open design of the device and the room atmosphere ensure a stress-free and pain-free examination. In addition, the OASIS Velocity model of the Fujifilm brand allows us a fast, comprehensive and accurate diagnosis due to its high image quality. On this basis, we can draw up individual therapy concepts for you.
Frequent applications of MRI are:
- Investigations of soft tissue, such as connective, nerve or muscle tissue
- Examinations of internal organs or the brain
- Joint examinations
- Cancer prevention
- Prostate examinations – mammary gland examination
- Consideration of the vessels
- Examination of the bile and pancreas
- Spine examination
A special facility on our computed tomograph allows the patient to perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures in a safer and time-saving manner.
For this purpose, our treating physicians are at your side in the treatment room and check the progress of the treatment via a monitor. This allows us to accurately visualise your body, allowing us to perform treatments or interventions in an extremely gentle and low-risk manner without injuring surrounding structures. We use this method, among other things, in the relief of pathological fluid accumulations through drainage, tissue extraction for tissue typing or targeted pain treatments.
In pain management, we relieve your discomfort by injecting painkillers into irritated nerves or inflamed joints. In addition, we perform pain therapies with CT-controlled nerve blockages as well as joint infiltrations of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.
These procedures are minimally invasive in order to be able to offer you a low-risk procedure without complex anesthesia. Especially with very strong and long-lasting or even chronic pain or after exhaustion of other therapy options, such as drug treatments and physiotherapy, an interventional procedure can achieve permanent freedom from pain. In addition, in certain cases, pain management can be the right way to prevent impending surgery. Our goal is to relieve your pain permanently and sustainably. We regularly treat, among other things:
- Herniated discs
- Chronic back pain
- Irritated vertebral joints
You do not have a referral or you have not been prescribed pain therapy and still want to use pain therapy? As a self-payer, you can also carry out pain therapy with us without a bank transfer certificate.
Whether hobby, performance or professional athletes: Injuries and chronic overload damage to joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and bones are common. Our team has many years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries so that you can get back on your feet quickly. In our day-to-day examinations, for example, we regularly encounter:
- Tennis arm
- Cruciate ligament tear
- ligament and muscle tears
- meniscus injury
- Kneecap dislocation or fracture
- Distortion of the shoulder joint
Why our open MRI offers many advantages, especially for athletes, you can read here.
The common disease osteoporosis is a disease of bone metabolism, which breaks down the bone mass faster. Due to the lower and thus unstable bone substance, the risk of bone fractures increases. In order to identify the risk at an early stage and initiate treatment as quickly as possible, early prevention is important.
Our radiology offers you the examination as part of a bone seal measurement,
Also known as DEXA.
What is a bone seal measurement?
Bone density measurement is a low-dose X-ray examination that allows us to determine the mineral salt content of the bones. With the examination, also known as DEXA or DXA, our doctors determine how stable and firm your bones are.
When measuring bone density, we examine the bones of the lumbar spine and the neck of the thigh in a radiatively gentle manner with modern X-ray equipment. The fewer X-rays pass through the bone, the higher the bone density. For the evaluation of the bone density measurement, we use a so-called T-score or Z-score.
Bone density measurement is painless and has no side effects. When measuring bone density, the radiation exposure is lower than with a normal X-ray examination. Nevertheless, in order to protect expectant parents and their children, we avoid the examination of pregnant women.
When is a bone density measurement performed?
Our doctors use bone density measurement for early detection or for monitoring the progress of osteoporosis.
Women are statistically more likely than men to be affected by osteoporosis. An increased risk of breakdown of bone substance is due in particular to the falling hormone levels during and after menopause.
Common reasons for bone density measurement include:
- unclear bone fractures or poor healing after bone fractures,
- familial incidence of osteoporosis and fractures,
- prolonged use of drugs (especially cortisone),
- Women over the age of 65 or men over the age of 70 who have certain cofactors of osteoporosis.
If a bone density measurement is medically justified, the costs are usually covered by the health insurance companies. However, the assumption of costs must be clarified in advance. Please contact us for a vote beforehand by phone.
Outpatients
Our outpatients can register as privately insured persons or as self-payers for examination appointments. The health insurance companies also regularly cover the costs of legally insured persons. We therefore recommend that legally insured ambulance patients consult their health insurance company in advance in order to clarify which benefits are covered in individual cases. With the request for a cost estimate by e-mail, you will receive it from us as a template for your health insurance. If no discussion of the findings is desired, the findings report + CD will also be handed out immediately at a lower cost. Immediate treatment is carried out with the delivery of the examination report, including the CD.
Due to the versatile examination options and the individually necessary diagnostic scope, we cannot make blanket statements on prices for our range of services. In order to make a valid assessment of the costs of an investigation, we need a concrete description of your case. We would be happy to provide you with a cost estimate on this basis. You can simply send your request for this by e-mail to radiologie@kreisklinik-gg.de judging. Then we will gladly take care of a short-term appointment.
Patients of the district clinic
The Department of Radiology cares, like the others Departments of the district clinic, primarily for clinical patients – i.e. patients receiving inpatient treatment at the Groß-Gerau district hospital. Of course, the district clinic looks after every patient, whether cash register patient, private patient, self-payer or patient with insurance abroad. With us, every patient receives the highest level of medical care – from examination to treatment and aftercare. In addition to radiology, this applies to all departments of the clinic as well as on-campus sections, practices and cooperation partners.
The offer is equally aimed at emergency outpatients, i.e. patients who are admitted via our central emergency department. The ZNA is a department of the district clinic and can accommodate district hospital patients as such.
