New cooperation starts
KREIS GROSS-GERAU - New growth for the Intersectoral Supply Centre: Since October 1, the Kreisklinik Groß-Gerau has been one of the locations of the specialists Rhein-Main-Nahe. The managing director of the specialist medical center, Dr. Stefan Welschehold, personally takes over the management of the site. This expands the range of services at the district clinic to include the specialist areas of rheumatology, neurosurgery, spinal therapy and pain therapy.
District Hospital Managing Director Prof. Erika Raab welcomes the new practice in-house: "We are very pleased that Prof. Dr. Härle, Dr. Welschehold, Dr. Burkhart and the entire team have enabled us to attract further experts to our location. This gives our patients an even greater range of services, which is integrated into the care structure in a close, centralised and networked way.”
District Administrator Thomas Will also sees great potential for the district in the cooperation: "I observe with satisfaction and confidence how the clinic is evolving towards an intersectoral care centre. The extension of supply is precisely in the sense of the Groß-Gerau district and to the benefit of its population.’
Specialists Rhein-Main-Nahe complement the existing structures on the health campus, which is on its way to becoming an intersectoral care centre. The focus is on an interdisciplinary cooperation for the clarification and therapy of patients with diseases of the musculoskeletal system. For the first time in the entire Rhine-Main region, the institution has adopted an interdisciplinary approach with the integration of various departments under one roof. This close spatial cooperation avoids waiting times and friction losses when transferring from one specialist to another. Due to the location on the health campus, the expertise can also be used in an inpatient environment.
Prof. Dr. Härle brings a new expertise to the health campus as a specialist in internal medicine with a focus on rheumatology. With the Department of Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery, represented by Dr Welschehold and Dr Just, experienced experts for diseases and injuries of the central and peripheral nervous systems and the spine are available for many years. For example, patients from the Groß-Gerau district no longer have to travel long distances," says Dr. Welschehold.
Another focus will be the newly added specialist area of pain therapy, which Dr Burkhart is responsible for as a specialist in anesthesia and pain therapy. As a district hospital, we would therefore like to offer our patients holistic care services beyond their inpatient stay," adds Prof. Raab.
In the future, the planned hospice on the Kreisklinik site will also benefit from the cooperation. In the long term, the district hospital sees palliative care – and related pain management – as one of its major care tasks. As a provider tailored to the basic needs of the population, the Intersectoral Care Centre is intended to combine sustainable outpatient and inpatient services.
