Groß-Gerau, 5 May 2023. On Friday, 5 May 2023, the Groß-Gerau District Hospital hosted the visit of Nancy Faeser, SPD's top candidate for the Hessian state election. During the visit of the politician, the new open magnetic resonance tomograph (MRI) of the Kreisklinik Groß-Gerau was visited. Subsequently, joint discussions took place with Managing Director Prof. Erika Raab on the deficit financing of smaller hospitals and on the future of medical care in rural regions.
Nancy Faeser said during the visit:The Groß-Gerau District Hospital is extremely important for the medical care of the people in the region. I would like to thank all employees of the district clinic for their work. My goal is for our hospitals to be well equipped. That there are more nurses, doctors. This is the only way to ensure that all people in Hessen receive good medical care, regardless of where they live. This must be our goal and the country must do more to achieve it.’
In the course of the discussion, the challenges in the financing of municipal houses were discussed using the example of the district clinic. In this context, the target image of the Intersectoral Care Centre in contrast to other hospital models was also examined.
Managing Director Prof. Erika Raab:Ms Faeser's visit is an important signal for Kreisklinik Groß-Gerau and underlines the pioneering role we can achieve as an intersectoral care centre for other rural regions. Today's exchange has shown how important political commitment is for the future viability of hospital care. On behalf of the staff, we would like to thank Mrs. Faeser for this special opportunity and her visit to Groß-Gerau.’
Together with her delegation, Nancy Faeser visited the new open MRI of the Kreisklinik Groß-Gerau in advance. The device is state-of-the-art and the first model of its kind in Europe. Due to the open design, it allows the patients a clear field of vision and the noticeable presence of accompanying persons. The image recordings of the MRI are sharper in the image resolution with at the same time higher lying comfort and thus serve the improved detailed diagnosis. The district clinic offers the examination on an open MRI in addition to the regular hospital operation also outpatients by appointment.
‘High-tech is not only reserved for large clinics and universities; in rural areas, patients have an equally high standard of care. I am glad that we can offer our patients this service and tangible added value with the open MRI“, explains Esther Hüttermann, Head of General and Visceral Surgery at the Kreisklinik.
