What we stand for: Our goals and vision

One team: A goal

Good and comprehensive care is a central component for the success of treatment. Our patients benefit from competent, independent and professionally excellently trained nurses. We are aware of the great responsibility we have towards our patients. In order to provide them in the best possible way, we rely on area maintenance. Our nurses are supported by nursing assistants, nursing assistants, ward assistants, secretaries and transport staff. We attach great importance to the promotion of these support processes, so that the care has sufficient time for the care of the patients at the district clinic. Furthermore, we ensure our high-quality care through regular internal and external further training as well as through the use of current (nursing) scientific findings.

Our ultimate goal is to provide our patients with the best possible care in compliance with modern (care) standards. In order to be able to provide this care at a high level, we attach great importance to the satisfaction of our colleagues. The team of the nursing directorate is committed to optimal structural framework conditions, strengthens and promotes interdisciplinary cooperation. We achieve this through flat hierarchies, appreciation, the personal development of each caregiver as well as an open communication and feedback culture.

One of our biggest tasks is to secure the next generation of skilled workers. We have made it our mission to provide high-quality training and to support and promote independence, a sense of responsibility and freedom of action right from the start.

Nursing-at-the-District Clinic

areas

On our internistic area with a total of 68 beds, all internistic patients of the Groß-Gerau district hospital receive interdisciplinary care. The focus of care is on the sections cardiology, pulmonology, angiology and gastroenterology.

Under the direction of Katja Fröhlich, we provide our patients with holistic and needs-oriented care according to the area care concept. The nursing team consists of nursing specialists and nursing assistants and is supported by ward secretaries, ward aids, physiotherapy and the social and transport service.

Through joint visits, we monitor the success of treatment together with all occupational groups that are necessary for the optimal treatment of the individual clinical picture – this is in line with our intersectoral approach.

In our interdisciplinary surgical field, we provide our patients with a total of 68 beds. The focus of care is on the specialist departments of general and visceral surgery, coloproctology, orthopaedics and trauma surgery as well as neurosurgery. Under the professional direction of Tanja Kownatzki and her representative Chiara Steinmüller, our patients receive holistic and needs-oriented care. The nursing team consists of nursing specialists and nursing assistants and is supported by ward secretaries, ward aids, physiotherapy and the social and transport service.

All preoperative patients are pre-supervised at our interdisciplinary reception centre and are only placed on our surgical area after surgery, which should contribute to the relief of the teams. During joint visits, the success of treatment is monitored in an interdisciplinary team and controlled by all professional groups.

On our pediatric surgery we take care of the pediatric surgical patients of Dr. Döderlein. Head of the ward Katja Fröhlich and her nursing team care for our youngest patients. Playful and child-friendly care is important to us – and is well received by the kids.

Our central emergency department is the first point of contact for many patients at the district clinic. Our care team is experienced in emergencies and trained to act quickly and precisely in special situations. Excellent technical equipment supports our nursing experts in the emergency room. The Central Emergency Room team consists of nurses, medical assistants and is supported daily by administrative reception staff, who take over the entire bureaucratic reception documentation, so that our nurses can focus on essential patient care.

Regular internal training in the interdisciplinary team ensures the know-how of our ZNA team. This includes, for example, regular advanced life support training. We attach great importance to the further qualification of our nursing staff and rely on specialist training in anesthesia and intensive care as well as emergency care in order to provide our patients with the best possible care in every situation.

In our interdisciplinary intensive care unit with IMC unit, a total of eight beds are available for the care of our patients. All treatment places are state-of-the-art. Special feature of our house: The intensive care unit has fully digitised processes (so-called PDMS – Patient Data Management System) that ensure maximum safety for our patients and relieve our caregivers. Furthermore, our intensive care unit ensures the in-house emergency team, so that our patients are in the best hands even in an emergency (e.g. a resuscitation).

In the area of anesthesia, the care department looks after three operating theatres, the recovery room and, together with the anesthesiologist and the central emergency department team, ensures the care of our severely injured patients in the shock room.

The intensive care and anesthesia care staff either work in both areas, focus on one area or focus on one of the two areas. In order to keep our colleagues' skills at the highest level at all times, to expand their know-how and to sharpen processes for special situations, our intensive care and anaesthesia nurses take part in specialist further training and we also ensure the high quality of care through regular internal and external further training. These include, for example, regular advanced life support training.

In our interdisciplinary operating theatre, three operating theatres are available for standard care as well as an outpatient operating theatre. All surgical patients from the fields of orthopaedics, trauma surgery, coloproctology, general and visceral surgery as well as neurosurgery are provided with surgical care here.

During surgery, our patients are supplied by an instrumenter and a jumper. The high flexibility in surgical planning is ensured by an interdisciplinary and collegial cooperation between the medical and nursing team.

The team consists of health and nursing staff, specialist health and nursing staff as well as surgical assistants and is supported by separate cleaners and colleagues for patient relocation.

Patients from the cardiological, pneumological, angiological and gastroenterological fields take care of our colleagues from the functional department, among others. The service portfolio is comprehensive and ranges from sonographies, pulmonary function examinations, echocardiograms, echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, gastroscopy to colonoscopy, ERCP and pacemaker implantation.
