The internalist theory and practice make me curious. Internal medicine is a key area of expertise that links diverse aspects of human health. That is why I would like to gain important insights into the various internal illnesses.<\/p>\n

How does the field of internal medicine differ from the other fields and which cases do you treat?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Internal medicine as a discipline is particularly comprehensive compared to other disciplines, but at the same time I find it logical and structured. The spectrum of diseases that one treats in internal medicine is correspondingly large, from heart to lungs or kidneys, here everything comes together. In addition, in internal medicine we regularly interact with other departments, such as surgery or anesthesia, which makes the work interdisciplinary and varied.<\/p>\n

What led you to work in a small hospital, and what advantages do you see in medical training in such a place?<\/strong><\/p>\n

As an assistant doctor in a small hospital, I am much more independent in my day-to-day work than in a large house, I have the feeling that I can bear more responsibility faster. I am also closer to my patients, can often accompany and support them from admission to their treatment process to healing. The human component of my work is important to me, so I like this aspect of a small house like the county clinic.<\/p>\n

To what extent have digitization and modern technology influenced your daily work, especially in the field of internal medicine?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The medical day-to-day work is intensive, every digital measure that saves my time capacities is a big win. At Kreisklinik we work with electronic health records on iPads, digital management systems and other tools that really prevent the chronic lack of time. Digitalization is important for my profession, but I still think it is not the solution to all problems. Some challenges would be eliminated, for example by reducing documentation and bureaucracy obligations from the outset, instead of simply moving them to digital ways.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to aspiring medical students or young doctors interested in a career in internal medicine?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you have a great interest in the Department of Internal Medicine, like to work in teams and are solution-oriented, you will find many specialization opportunities and career opportunities in Internal Medicine. I therefore advise my younger colleagues to look at as many facets of the field as possible in order to find out whether they would prefer to work as an \u2018all-rounder\u2019 or to specialise in a specific field.<\/p>\n

What are your long-term goals after your residency at the Kreisklinik Gro\u00df-Gerau?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our clinic is an important center for the medical care of people in the large region of Gro\u00df-Gerau and beyond. I want to help as many people as possible.<\/p>\n
